Testimonial

Mountain biker and 100 Year Athlete Jay Burke launches a wooden ramp over a boulder at Trailside Park in Park City.

The only thing I don't like about Ben is the fact that I didn't start working with him sooner!

I'm over 50 years old and still active with multiple mountain sports that include alpine skiing and touring, mountain bike racing, and Nordic skiing, just to name a few. Working with Van Treese training has given me a new perspective on what my potential is. I honestly wish I had been doing strength work and, more importantly, work on my functional range (Kinstretch), years ago.

Last year in March, I had a completely torn ACL repaired. I was very concerned this would affect the pace at which I usually attack sports. Ben and I started working on rehabbing the knee, in conjunction with my physical therapist, a few days post-surgery. At eight months, I was racing cyclocross bikes, and at nine months, started skiing. I figured I'd have a season on skis that was maybe 60 - 70% of my norm. Still, within an hour of being back on the snow, I incredibly felt I was near full strength. By late December, I literally couldn't tell I'd had surgery (aside from the brace I was wearing). I'd say 70% of this was very focused strength conditioning, but a significant component was working on my mobility through Kinstretch.

If having your body in a physical condition that you will feel comfortable attacking any athletic endeavor is essential, especially as you age, start exploring options with Ben and his team as soon as you can.

Why We Created 100 Year Athlete

100 Year Athlete was inspired by aging mountain athletes who lost years of quality recreation to preventable injuries and unsustainable training habits. Informed by the latest research on human health and sports performance, we developed a longevity-based fitness program tailored to outdoor adventure.

For over six years, we’ve tested 100 Year Athlete with athletes ages 35 to 80+ who put significantly more strain on their bodies than the average person. They include extreme skiers and snowboarders, mountain bikers, trail runners, rock climbers, triathletes, golfers, and pickleballers.

Who We Are

Based in Park City, Utah, 100 Year Athlete is the go-to fitness program for athletes dealing with joint pain. We get mountain athletes back to doing what they love, and then we retrain their body to support a lifetime of adventure. We also train Olympic, World Cup, and collegiate athletes. • “Ben and his team truly are amazing. After a back injury and debilitating pain, Ben’s program brought so much relief and gave me the tools needed to ease pain when flare-ups did occur. He helped me experience an almost back pain free pregnancy, and I cannot wait to return postpartum. Ben and his team go above and beyond in caring for those at their gym and are simply good people.”

    McKenzie G.

  • “Ben and his crew do whole body fitness then better than anyone I’ve ever met. Ben has a unique ability to apply joint health, flexibility and strength, then tailor them specific to your goals and sport. I highly recommend Off the Mountain!”

    David G.

  • “Best gym in town with a great welcoming vibe! Ben is a genius and all other trainers are very skilled and professional. Any goal you have can be met here. Because I am 62 and have had some injuries, Ben has me focused on improved functional fitness so I can remain strong and continue doing all the outdoor stuff I love.”

    Teresa C.

  • “I am a Physical Therapist and I recommend Off The Mountain to my patients all the time. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and I can trust that they will progress my patients appropriately taking their specific needs and/or injuries into consideration. Also, the trainers are excellent at communicating and collaborating with me which I appreciate. I have been pleased to learn that many of my patients have continued training here well beyond their discharge from Physical Therapy.”
